English only.

Several streamers and chatters are bi and multi-lingual. However, the majority only speak English. Even if the streamer speaks the language you chat in, your non-English message will be ignored.

No slurs.

Avoid any words YOU believe are slurs, even if the streamer disagrees. You can read an article on our thoughts on certain so-called "ableist" slurs here. (to be published at a later date)

Slurs you may not realize are slurs include:

  • R-word for the mentally disabled.

  • C-word (with or without the "pled" ending) for physically disabled people.

  • S-word ending in "tic" often used as an insult, but also to describe people with various disabilities.

  • Gypsy--this is a controversial one, we avoid typing it at the best of times, but most people won't get it if it's not typed. Some Romani people consider it a racial slur, others don't.

Psycho/psychopath/sociopath.

These are terms used to describe people with Anti-Social Personality Disorder. They do not mean "evil" or "emotionless" or "dangerous" or "insane." They are descriptors for elements of an actual medical diagnosis.

Most people don't know the actual diagnostic criteria of these terms, and it is not up to you to armchair diagnose based on stereotypes and traits if you do. Avoid using them as degrading descriptions.

Avoid using any physical or mental diagnosis as an insult, even if it's one you believe is true.

Infantilizing language.

Do not imply someone is lesser by calling them young, old, kid, baby, or anything else of a similar connotation. You can refer to large groups of clearly awful people in this way, or make satire jokes. Do not directly imply it about a person in this channel. You do not know their experience, you will never know their experience, and to presume you do makes you the type of person we despise. Yes, even if you are our friend.
